Another day of extraordinary beauty in true British style :) The forecast for Hassocks shows the dreaded "two drops" from the Met Office until 12 noon, which is not encouraging at all. But, as often happens, it actually amounts to just a couple of drops and nothing more.
However, the start of the walk is quite challenging; the puddles are huge and often span the entire path, making my choice of these expensive waterproof socks seem glorious.
As is often the case in true British style, the day improves hour by hour, with the sun trying to peek through and offering splendid views from Devil's Dyke and Edburton Hill.
After a good stretch on the South Downs Way, we head towards Shoreham-by-Sea along the River Adur, following the last part of the Downs Link (a route that starts from Guildford in Surrey).
At the end, a monument with various quotes, 'the river empties towards the tide...'
Today it really does!
